Design Thinking for researchers

Design Thinking is a human centric approach for practical and creative problem solving leading to actionable outcomes. This workshop will introduce participants to the concept of Design Thinking, using participatory, interactive approaches to explore the key elements of the process. You will develop familiarity with the Key principles of Design Thinking, gain a practical understanding of how it works and be equipped with a toolkit of approaches for use both within a research and development context and with external partners.

Objectives

Here is what you can expect by attending this course:
  • Generate and priorotise ideas using structured ideation methods and understand how to build simple prototypes to gather feedback and iterate
  • Understand Design Thinking principles and the relevance to research
  • Use empathy to tools to explore stakeholder needs and create clear problem statements and "How Might We" questions
