Who is this course aimed at?
All University StaffThis workshop is ideally suited to managers, supervisors, team leaders and any staff involved in undertaking, reviewing, or managing workplace risk assessments.
Note that anyone who has recently undertaken the IOSH Managing Safely course does not need to attend as there is some cross over of content.
What is this course about?
This interactive Risk Assessment Workshop provides our staff with the knowledge and practical skills required to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement effective control measures. Using real-life examples and practical exercises, attendees will learn how to apply a structured risk assessment process, evaluate the likelihood and severity of potential harm, and determine proportionate controls in line with legal requirements and university standards. The workshop promotes a proactive approach to risk management and supports the development of safer working environments and processes.Details of any pre-course/programme requirements
No pre-course requirements as such, but note this is an interactive workshop where discussion and examples from participants' own experience is welcome, therefore some consideration of these beforehand may be helpful.Objectives
Here is what you can expect by attending this course:
- Be able to evaluate risks by considering likelihood and severity and apply the hierarchy of controls to reduce risks to an acceptable level.
- Be able to identify workplace hazards that could cause injury or ill-health.
- Understand the legal and organisational requirements relating to risk assessment and be able to adopt a structured approach to undertaking these.
