The Chaplaincy Awareness Course has been designed to improve understanding of chaplaincy services across the university. As part of strengthening institutional faith literacy, the course introduces the importance of recognising religious belief, spiritual identity, and worldview diversity.It demonstrates how developing this awareness enables staff to feel more confident and better equipped when working with students and colleagues from a wide range of religious and non religious backgrounds. Through brief but practical insights, the course supports staff in fostering a more inclusive, respectful, and culturally competent campus environment.

During the session, there will also be some case study scenarios to help participant to engage with real life scenario of faith issues at the University of Huddersfield.Objectives
Here is what you can expect by attending this course:
- Describe how chaplaincy contributes to belonging, wellbeing, inclusion, and staff/student experience.
- Explain what the chaplaincy service is, who it supports, and how it operates.
- identify referral routes, access points and common student/staff FAQs.
- Understand faith literacy and the role of religious belief in the university context (based on research data- chaplaincy service project recently completed).
