What is this course about?

Metrics such as citation counts, h-indices, impact factors and more are frequently used in research evaluation across the sector; however, quantitative indicators can easily be misused or misinterpreted when trying to assess the ‘quality’ of research. Responsible metrics is a movement which aims to promote the fair, transparent, and contextual use of these indicators in research assessment.

This session will introduce the key principles of responsible metrics, and outline some major frameworks guiding their use.
