Apprenticeship Opportunities
Grow your skills. Grow your career
At our University, we’re committed to nurturing talent and helping our people thrive. Apprenticeships offer a unique opportunity, blending your current role with structured training and academic study.
They’re designed to help you build new capabilities, gain industry-recognised qualifications, and contribute meaningfully to the University’s success.
Whether you're advancing in your current career path or exploring a new direction, we’ll support you in finding an apprenticeship that aligns with your goals and aspirations.

What is an Apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship is a fully funded development programme that combines hands-on experience with formal learning. You remain in your current role, continue to earn your salary, and work towards a qualification that’s directly relevant to your job.
These programmes are funded through the Apprenticeship Levy, a government initiative aimed at supporting workforce development across all sectors.
Apprenticeships are available at various levels, from entry-level to postgraduate, and are tailored to help you grow professionally while contributing to the University’s aspirations.

Why choose an Apprenticeship?
- Achieve a nationally recognised qualification that enhances your professional credibility.
- Build knowledge, skills, and behaviours that are directly applicable to your role and future career.
- Learn from expert tutors and experienced mentors who guide your development.
- Apply your learning in real-time, solving practical challenges in your day-to-day work.
- Advance your career within the University, opening doors to new opportunities and responsibilities.

Understanding 'Off-the-Job' Training
A key component of every apprenticeship is ‘off-the-job’ training, dedicated time for learning that takes place outside your usual work duties. This typically makes up 20% of your working hours and can include:
- Attending lectures, webinars, or workshops
- Completing coursework, assignments, or research projects
- Participating in job shadowing or mentoring sessions
- Engaging in structured training provided by your learning provider
This time is protected and planned to ensure you can focus on your development without compromising your role. For more detailed guidance, please click here.
